We spent the better part of Monday on the move- by overcrowded train from the airport to the city; by taxi to and from Khao Sahn rd (the backpacker centre from hell) and then a bewildering set of connections by bus, train and taxi to another bus which would take us away. Take us from hell. Take us to Trat.
We decided that we had to get out of Bangkok, no question about it. The one question we probably should've asked was how long the bus trip to Trat would be. 3 hours? we thought. Then... maybe 4, couldn't possibly be more than 4. Our legs were cramped, our stomachs growling and our feet were numb when we got off the bus 6 hours later.
We stumbled to a guesthouse and stayed there for two nights, not moving any further from our beds than we had to.
Debating between going to Koh Chang off the Thai coast or Sihanoukville in Cambodia, we decided that Thailand had sucked so much that we may as well move on to Cambodia. So eager were we to leave that we got up at 4:30am to make the boat to Sihanoukville... and you know we like our sleep...
