Another full Irish breakfast, and we're slowly getting used to them. It does mean you don’t need lunch, so that’s a good thing, and it is free food (included in the room charge), so you really have to.
First up, we went to Blarney Castle, and kissed the famous Blarney Stone – even Shaun had a smooch. But it’s not just a castle, there’s also some very nice gardens and rock formations to walk around. It is very touristy, which is both good and bad. The good is that it caters for tourists, which we are, so we are catered for. The bad is that there are other tourists around, and some of them are loud Americans, which, as you know, is very, very bad.

Arty shot from Garinish Island
A long, one-lane drive brought us to Glengarriff (the start of the Beara Ring), where we caught a boat across to Garinish Island, seeing a seal colony on the way. There were more nice gardens on the island, and some very slow old people blocking the gangplank when we tried to return to dry land. The County Cork side of Healy Pass
There was a very picturesque drive around the Beara peninsula and a very narrow, winding road across the Healy Pass, which also had great views and woolly sheep.
