On our way to the airport, we had our final pastry breakfast in France, which was cool. Fairly simple trip to London, and on to our hotel.
They gave us a key to room S20, and wrote it out for us. In S20, someone else was staying, which was a surprise. I went back to reception, and she said "not S20, S21". I showed her what she'd written, and pointed out that the key got us into S20, and she said “no English”. Perfect!
In the end S21 is a very nice room with a balcony, so we’re happy. It took Sue and Andy 3 hours to get their room. They’d booked separately from us, into a hotel a couple of blocks away, and they had all sorts of trouble, finally ending up in a room at the top of our street!!
We picked up our Wimbledon tickets from Charlie, and then discovered that Rafa had pulled out of the tournament. So, after all our efforts we weren’t going to see him at either Roland Garros or Wimbledon!! At least we’d get to see Rog, as he was first up on Centre Court, and we had 2 tickets for Centre Court, and 2 for Court 1. It meant we’d have to share with Sue and Andy, but at least we’d get to see a set and a bit of Roger.
We went out and had dinner in a pub around the corner – real English food. Rochelle had roast chicken, vegetables and Yorkshire pudding, while I had Ham and eggs with chips. Yum!!
