"IŽm never going to drink again", I thought to myself as I boarded the ferry to Colonia, in Uruguay for a day trip yesterday. IŽd had one hourŽs sleep after a night out with Milton, one of the profs at school, his brother, his brotherŽs friend and a Norwegian couple. WeŽd started at a very plush restaurant in Palermo "Soho", called Perdito Salvador (or something similar), where IŽd added another Bife de Lomo to the stash of steak causing a backlog in my intestines, and necked a load of Caiporinas and beer. At 65 pesos a head, this was probably twice as expensive as other restaurants IŽd been to. Then, we took a long taxi ride to the middle of nowhere, where we partied until 7am. The club was called "La dioca" (The goddess) and it appeared to contain every single stag and hen party in Buenos Aires, dancing their asses off to a combination of live argentinian music, and 80s cheese.

Needless to say it was a brilliant night out and a good laugh. It was one of those weird places where you pay for your booze, get a recipt and then hand it over to the bar...there seems to be a fair bit of this.

The night was class, I had to spend most of the night speaking spanish, which is a good thing. Have no idea if I was making sense or not, but it seemed easier after a few beers and then nigh on impossible after a lot. Milton, his bro, and his broŽs mate were a good laugh and it was great going out with some locals. Had never even heard of the place so would never have found it if not.

In the taxi on the way home, the taxi driver was talking and talking. I had tinitis in one ear and had lost the ability to understand, let alone speak spanish, so I just nodded and laughed, not really aware of the fact that I had to leave the house in just over an hour, and I hadn{t even got home yet.
