yea well I didn't go to the WALL but I've been there 2 years ago and everyone said that it was really crowded anyway -yea going to the wall on a national holiday probably isn't the best idea - anyway I'm in bed taking medications, eating honey and lemon - I knew I would get sick - probably because of my low alcohol tolerance - and this destroys your immune system :( Anyway, I remember reading in the Guiness book of records - when I was like 8 :) that the whole wall used to be around 8000 km long (with all the extra smaller walls flowing like rivers from the main wall) - that's impressive - BIG time - I remember when I went to the wall and we could see it from the distance I was thinking: "OMG, which idiot went UP THERE and build the wall?" The peaks look so high and steep - it's one of those UUAAUUUUUU sights :)
We took a train from Suzhou to Beijing - I slept like someone killed me - really it was the first night that I actually slept for more than 4 hours - but when I woke up - our whole cabin (Antonia, Zillah, me and Jane) - we all felt like CRAP - infected throat - partly because of the dry air in the cabin and partly because we started breaking down - with the tempo we have it's almost impossible not to get sick! :)
It's hard to add more of a socio-cultural dimension to this blog - since a lot of stuff that I see every day seems so normal to me - dry fish, the vegetation, haahh - yea What impressed me about Beijing is - in the last 2 years - there are a LOT of new buildings - like A LOT - the CCTV - uau!:) it's crazy - the development and the FUNDS available for it -in comparison to europe or the states - there is MORE money to be spend here - and that's WHY we are all going to BE in ASIA in the future!! :)
Maybe I should write more about the Study Tour - since I'm bored and in bed :) WE are from 12 different countries and as Nick said - Zala you have enough CULTURAL experience HERE! :) I can not say that I'm VERY impressed with a tour - I mean the corporate visits were cool - especially Mary Kay and the Home Accent - I think that if you can see the production line and working conditions - that's really useful - you have a better image of how things work. Even though I still believe this was one of the BEST factories around - I mean it was all so CLEAN in Mary Kay :) - I know they produce cosmetics - but it all looked polished. And PINK. Overly PINK.
Yesterday we had a great dinner and ate the Peking Duck - we even got the cards with duck numbers - ok they take their DUCKS SERIOUSLY - we got something like 138 millionth duck? (I'm not sure abt the number but was HIGH). Well I'm not in the best mood to write ... tomorrow hutongs!
