Saturday, 14.4. Interesting ... is not a good description ? I woke up rather early, still very tired from my tour around Sydney yesterday ? My quest for the day was; go to Bondi beach and see the famous surf scene ? there! It takes 20 mins to get to the Bondi Junction with the subway and then you have to transfer to the bus to get to the beach. It's quite nice, with houses on the hill, overlooking the bay ? and people jogging on the beach, walking dogs and sunbathing. Had a great brekkie in an Israeli/Russian/German place ? very "old stylish" with a great vibe! Since I didn't have a lot of time, I went back pretty soon and then to the airport with a shuttle bus. There were a couple of germans in the bus complaining: oh, yea Australia is soooo different from Germany (yes, they speak English, but - NOT!).
Arrived to the airport and the lady at the counter tells me that this flight is operated by Qantas - yea, we're gonna get food!!! And that we are flying to Melbourne. Ok?! ... If this was the initial plan, then ... ok! Got on the plane, ate my muffin (so much about the "food") and we soon landed in Melbourne. When I got tot the international terminal, they told us, that we are gonna be late - yeeeea, because the plane is still not here. 20 minutes later, the same dude announces that the plane is still in Honolulu. OK! WTF? And then we were waiting .... And waiting ... until "Ladies and gentlemen, Jet Star has chartered a Qantas aircraft for this flight, so we will be boarding the aircraft as soon as it passes the security check - when we see that everything is ok with the aircraft. GREAT! What else! In a room full of screaming kids and Australians with an idea of going to a "perfect holiday" destinations made the atmosphere extremely tense. Brrr ... After half an hour (I've lost the sense of time) ? there was another announcement: Ladies and Gentlemen, the crew has arrived and we will be boarding the plane in a couple of minutes JEEEE!! And then Ladies and Gentlemen, you will hear a storm alarm and Ladies and Gentlemen, the airport has been closed due to the storm WHAT?!!!
It took like FOREVER, before they boarded the plane, luckily, I was not sitting next to the fat lady who needs toilet every 10 minutes, but next to a cool dude Steve. We laughed all the time, during the whole flight and drank rum with coke. During the landing there was a huge storm, lightening everywhere! I was more than happy when we landed, went thru immigration. I was waiting for my baggage with 10 - 13 others while they told us, that apparently there are some bags missing. And since my day was already perfect, my backpack was gone as well ... never showed up! So ... yes, my baggage got lost, for the first time in my life! FUCK (there are no nice words for times like these!)
I had nothing No clothes Or solution for my contacts No bikini Towel
But, I had a toothbrush And a computer And a book about the Short history of tractors in Ukrainian! ?
So there I was, at 1.30 in the morning, soaked from the rain, sitting in the car that picked me up at the airport and laughing at the fact that I will actually have to wear the ugly T-shirt which came gratis with a fashion magazine. But I was happy. It felt like I found it again - the peace inside of me, at least for a bit, at least for this brief moment. Everything has slowed down, and there is no easy way describing it. I had nothing, but everything at the same moment ? It felt REAL. Life is great and I just love it! Or maybe it's just the atmosphere of the place that changes me. I love Indonesia ?
