Having packed up all our belongings which now strangely fitted into six bags instead of the original three we had started with, together with an additional piece of hand luggage - a Bob the Builder rucksack for Steven, we headed into Miami.  Yvonne as always was fretting about something and today it was whether Virgin would accept two pieces of luggage, which whilst this was what it said on the tickets which were prepared by Virgin back at Heathrow many months ago, Yvonne had no faith!  She had visions of having to repack and lose half our luggage or spend a fortune on excess baggage!  As usual, these fears were unfounded and check in went swimmingly!
Before arriving at the airport we had a quick ride round Miami and then straight to the car hire place as D suddenly started to panic about running out of petrol - in the States you return the car with an empty tank, unlike NZ and Australia, and indeed the UK where you are expected to return it with a full tank.
We had a bit of a hassled arrival at the airport as the bus driver had to cram on more people than he should have but did helpfully make sure that everyone got off at the right stop with all their luggage.  We then were 'helpfully' assisted by a porter with our bags who unhelpfully abandoned us and the bags between a bin and a pillar near the Virgin check in.  Helpful if they had been checking in but as it was a while before check in started it was less than helpful.  In the end we established that Miami airport charged for using somewhat small trolleys and we acquired two and precariously piled the bags on.  Yvonne's then turned out to have a wobbly wheel but after some searching we found someone who was able to swap it for us.
We then headed to the Burger King and tried to position the trolleys out of the way, but within sight.  Whilst D was getting some food, Yvonne tried to manoeuvre the trolleys to another position, as the air conditioning above our original table choice turned out to be too fierce, and was rescued by a young man as the whole trolley started to tip over.
On D's arrival, Yvonne took Steven's chips and promptly tipped them over the floor.  Tears of course were called for at this point - Yvonne not Steven we hasten to add!  A lovely lady from the airport who was eating her lunch went to the Burger King counter and got another lot of chips for us.
We were then able to check in, reducing Yvonne's stress levels, and Steven spent some time in the departure lounge playing with his Thomas the Tank engine toys with a little Spanish boy waiting for his flight to Madrid.
Steven, once again, slept for much of the flight, despite it being very, very turbulent.  In addition, the girl sitting next to Yvonne has spent most of the time in the toilet with, what she thought was, food poisoning.  It was difficult to resist asking did she have the chicken or fish in an Airplane style!
As we left the plane, a young lady who had been over the aisle to us pointed to Steven and with a stern look on her face (oh, no we thought) and said, "He is the best behaved child I have ever seen on a flight."  Well, we shan't mention the first flight from London to Tokyo where he was less than settled!
