We booked into a motel about five minutes away from the airport and spent time disposing of unnecessary items, eating surplus food and washing clothes - there's a washing machine and dryer which costs nothing to use - all in preparation for the flight to L.A.  We have been amused to find out that Monday night (we arrive Monday morning) is Oscars' Night in L.A.
The motel that we are staying at is just down the road from The Villa Maria winery, one of the best wineries in New Zealand.  Who could resist a visit?!  We spent a pleasant afternoon sampling their finest wine and indulging in a fine platter of wine accompaniments - all whilst Steven slept.  We then had a tour of the winery itself.  - A very pleasant afternoon indeed.
The following day we felt we couldn't leave without seeing a bit more of Auckland and had a whistle-stop tour in the car, Yvonne thinking, yet again, that one city is much like the other and D making a fair comparison, surprisingly with Tokyo.  The tour ended when we found Steven, who had been sleeping, a playground in which to expend some energy.
The final video pieces on this episode of the blog are of D, filmed secretly by Yvonne, reading a book called 'The Mole who knew it was none of his business' which we bought in New Zealand (although Yvonne had heard of it from one of her literacy courses).  It is, of course, about poo and the book comes highly recommended for the less motivated reluctant boy reader!!  Yvonne didn't film the complete reading so it is still worthwhile getting the book to find out the other animals described!  The pictures are also great fun too - for adults and children!
