i got to bratislava and found it very depressing for the most part.  it reminded me of russia with its rows and rows of soviet style mega-apartment buildings.  i found the historic part of town, which made up for the rest.  i had a delicious and insanely cheap ($2) meal overlooking the river and the countryside.  i wandered through town and stopped into the toursit shop.  an old woman was very friendly and i could make out what she was saying and she understood my russia perfectly.   was starting to like the place, but i had to go.  i was meeting nivk in vienna later that night. so, i bought a bus ticket and, after waiting at the border for what seemed like forever, i pulled into vienna and ran into nick.
