My next day in Prague was about wandering the streets, meandering around and happening upon a museum or a church or a monument. I met up with Milly's cousin Martin, who conducts professional tours in Danish and was only too happy to translate to English. He was very good with the dates and the architecture (though even he couldn't tell me what the difference between Art Noveau and Art Deco is). I made it all the way to Vysehrad which is a not-so-touristy castle complex on the outskirts of Prague, and that night I watched the World Cup final at a beer garden with the locals who went absolutely wild with cries of "Ale Ale Le Bleu" or chants of "I-TAL-IA". Good times.

Kutna Hora, an hour or so bus ride from Prague, made a good day trip. They have this chapel where the architect went crazy with the bones of some 4000 people and made chandeliers and other decorations out of the bones. Evidently he had his young children help him out with the sorting. I really really couldn't get out of there fast enough. This ossuary is absolutely creepy. The rest of Kutna Hora was sleepy and half-closed because evidently most things are closed on Mondays, but I did get to see their museum of Alchemy where, and I'm not sure about this one because I interpreted it mostly via hand gestures, a famous Alchemist practiced.

But now I am in Karlovy Vary, the famous spa town. I had the unique experience of stumbling across a Georgian restaurant and I've also been going around with my spa cup tasting all the different health springs. I don't know which one to blame, but my stomach is somewhat queasy. I think I've decided that the health nuts must be confused and that the water is healthy only if it stays on the outside of your body - so by the last few springs I was sticking hands and feet in the fountains instead, to see if that theory has any validity.

Plzen, Cesky Krumlov and Brno are up next. Stay tuned - hostels are booking up fast now that it's peak season and I still need to sort out my reservations.
