The temple at Edfu is considered the most completely preserved temple in Egypt. And we only had an hour to see it.
The temple is huge. The most impressive aspect is the enormous outer entrance, which has giant gods carved into it. Inside this is the outer courtyard, with carved pillars leading to the actual temple entrance. Looking at the back of the outer entrance you can see another huge relief. Inside there are more columns, and every single wall is carved with a parade of deities and offerings. Room after room of them. There are lots of nooks and crannies here. I pretty much wandered around randomly just gazing at everything.
We didn't even find the outer wall until we were almost done. Walking between the outer wall of the temple and the inner side of the surrounding wall you can see carvings stretching up several meters on either side.
All the carvings are complete and the total effect is amazing. Come here and leave yourself some time to walk around.
