So we finally arrived in Rio and for some reason the taxi driver didn't know the hostel name, street it was on, or main street that was on.  I wince everytime I buy something here because I divide it by two and its a little more than that.  So Rio Backpackers wins the prize for most expensive lodgings yet, coming in around $40 a night.  And it's a bit of a dump.  But hey, its in Copacabana, right?

The worst part is the Internet.  It costs $3 an hour.  I couldn't believe it.  The first place we tried wouldn't let us upload photos (after I'd downloaded them all).  The second time we went Travelpod was under maintenance.  So we've been having an expensive and frustrating time.

We can walk down to the beach from our hostel.  At least we would if the sun would come out.  It turns out that Rio is a great city when the sun is shining and pretty boring when its not.  All the attractions require a hot, clear day.  It rains a lot at this time of the year.

In spite of the complaining, I am growing to love this city.

~Travis
