Hello everyone,

I'm going to put up the itinerary for our trip so everyone can have a
idea where we're going to be at what time. Keep in mind
that this is a rough itinerary, and places and dates are subject to
change. The first three or four months are pretty set at this
stage, since we've already bought the tickets. Everything else is
just an outline.

ITINERARY

CENTRAL AMERICA (1 month)
September 17th - fly to Guatemala City, Guatemala

We plan to spend a couple of weeks in Guatemala and then get scuba
certified in Honduras. After that we'll skip a couple countries
and head out of Panama City, Panama on Oct 17.

SOUTH AMERICA (1.5 months)
October 17th - fly from Panama City, Panama to Lima, Peru

We want to spend a couple weeks in Peru before heading to Cuzco for the
four day Machu Picchu trek reserved for November 2. After the
trek we head to Bolivia for a couple days, then shoot across to Buenos
Aires, Iguazu Falls, and Rio de Janeiro. We fly out of Sao Paolo,
Brazil (near Rio) on December 1st.

INDIA (1 month)
December 1st - fly from Sao Paolo, Brazil to Delhi, India

We have the entire month of December to hit as much of India as
possible. We'll mostly be traveling in the northern states around
Delhi. The Taj Mahal of course, and the cities of Jaipur,
Udaipur, and Jodhpur. Also Varanasi before we head north to Nepal

NEPAL (2-3 weeks)
Around January 1st- Our goal here is to do part of the
Annapurna Trek in the Himalayas of around 8-10 days. We then fly
out of Kathmandu January the 17th.

CHINA (3 weeks)
January 17th - fly from Kathmandu, Nepal to Beijing,
China. This is our last flight for quite a while. We plan
on spending about 3 weeks or so here (probably can't get a much longer
visa), traveling south overland. We'll hit Xi'an and the
terracotta warriors, the Three Gorges, Chengdu, Guilin and its
limestone karsts, and whatever else we find along the way. We
plan to cross the border into either Thailand or Vietnam during the
first or second week of February.

SOUTH EAST ASIA (4-5 weeks)
Around February 10 - We enter either Thailand or Vietnam. This
far out plans are intentionally vague. Hopefully we'll have
become more experienced travellers and more able to judge the pace at
which we want to travel. The idea is to spend some time in
Thailand, see Angkor in Cambodia, and enter Vietnam and Laos as time
permits. Around the first week of March we will fly to Indonesia.

INDONESIA (3-4 weeks)
Around March 10 - The majority of March will be spent island hopping (or
sitting) in Indonesia. The islands of Java, Bali, Flores, and
Komodo form the general trajectory.

MIDDLE EAST (1 month)
Around April 7th - In South East Asia or Indonesia we will book the
next set of flights for the second segment of our trip. Depending
on circumstances (money, grad schools, growing dislike for each other,
etc) these plans may change. The next stop would either be in
Damascus or Cairo (depending on visas and price). From here we
would hit Syria, Jordan, and Israel, then head to Egypt.

EGYPT (3 weeks)
Around May 7th - from Cairo we'll hit the main attractions in
Egypt, proceeding down (or up) the Nile. We'll leave from Cairo
to fly down to Addis Ababa.

ETHIOPIA (3-4 weeks)
Around June 1st - we'll fly down to Ethiopia and commence what appears
to be quite an adventure. We have hopes to make it all the way
down to the land border and cross into Kenya.

EAST AFRICA (1-3 months)
This stage of the trip depends heavily on our remaining funds, most of
which will be put towards a safari. We also had hopes of seeing
the mountain gorillas in Uganda (although the permit price seems to
double every month or so). That and explore Kenya and Tanzania
down to Zanzibar. But we'll see.

If anyone as wondering why we seem to hop over Africa and then come
back, it was due to weather concerns. The original itinerary,
which was laid out in a more logical fashion, put us in India during
the hottest month of the year. So we switched things around a
bit.

Also, if anyone wants to take a smaller vacation and meet up with us at some point along the trip, then email us and we can provide more details or recommendations. Everyone is welcome of course.

~Travis
