Hello friends, family, and random curious people.

Welcome to our round-the-world (henceforth "rtw") travel blog.

During the next year, Erin and I will post entries and photos here as

we make our way around the globe. The purposes of this blog are

many: to provide us with a record of our travels and a place to store

our photos, to provide friends and family with updates so they have

some idea that we're alive, to inspire intense jealousy in previously

mentioned friends and family, and to inspire other would-be travellers

to follow in our footsteps.

For those of you who are new to travelpod, you can move from entry to

entry by clicking the next and previous buttons at the bottom of the

page, or choose from the list of entries below this. Each entry

has an associated "map pin," so you will be able to see where we are

and where we've been on this map at the beginning of each entry.

Any photos or videos that we've uploaded will appear at the top of the

page, and you can click "slide-show" to see them all in a row. We

plan on updating this blog as often as possible, but we are limited by

the speed and accessibility of the Internet wherever we happen to

be. Still, I envision we'll be able to update in general at least a couple

times a week.

I want this experience to be as interactive as possible, so please

click the "post a comment" button at the bottom of our entries and

say hi, comment on something we said in a post, or add something

else. At the very least, it lets us know that someone is actually reading

this. We'll make every effort to respond to comments through email

if so required. Also, if you have any questions about undertaking your

own trip, we'd be glad to field these as well.

I'll post a couple entries before we head out on September 17th with

some preparation information and the itinerary. When we finally hit

the road, things should get a little more interesting. So stick around until then.

~Travis
