OK, so after the last long blog session, Tom and I met up with Matilda and Kathie and their friend Alyssa for a few drinks... which turned into a lot of drinks and a ring of fire... we then got thrown out of their hostel for being too noisy and hit the streets of Salta... Which resulted in me, Tom, Kathie, Matilda, Alyssa (USA) and Bruno (Brazilian who spoke not a word of English and very little Spanish) going to a bar with a band... where I saw a dog that looked depressed to me, and went off on a mission to find dog food, because I was convinced it was really ill... I couldnīt find dog food but came back with two large bags of crisps, which all my friends ate before I got to feed any to the dog... who, it turns out, was just sleeping...

Aaanyway... that was about the most eventful time in Salta... we didnīt really do very much at all, except walk around!!

We then got a bus from Salta to Cordoba, and Tom and I decided to treat ourselves... you have the option of semi-cama, which is like the comfiest National Express bus ever, or going the whole hog and getting cama, which is like riding on a bus full of leather lazyboy chairs, with well-dressed staff serving you whiskey and champagne, and it only costs a couple of quid more... so we went with that and had a good sleep on the overnight service to Cordoba.

Upon arriving, we got a taxi straight to the Morada hostel, for which we had a 10% discount voucher, dropped off our bags and headed out to explore the town... And actually thatīs pretty much all we did for about 4 days... We have done a LOT of walking!!

We met up with Kathie, Matilda and Alyssa and went to their hostel for drinks, which turned into us going to a night club... I have to say, I may have been paranoid, but it felt like the local people in the club felt a bit pissed off that they had to share their club with a bunch of loud tourists... but then again there were a few people who came and wanted to talk to us, so who knows?!?

So Cordoba was pretty much just that... wandering around, hunting down small items we wanted to buy (including more hair dye!) and chatting to people in our hostel...

We left the hostel on the Monday night, went to the bus station with plenty of time to spare, and waited on the platform for our bus... We were sitting waiting for at least half an hour... Then, just as they looked ready for us to put our bags on, a wave of panic hit me... Iīd left my passport, camera and MP3 player in the safe at the hostel... I had been thinking to myself all afternoon, make sure you pick those up on your way out Zoe... those are pretty important... And all the way to the bus station I had been thinking, Iīm sure Iīve forgotten something... but you feel that way every time you leave a hostel, so I ignored it... DAMN!

There was nothing for it, weīd paid for the tickets and we may have been able to make it, so Tom stayed with the bags while I made a mad dash to the taxi rank... I had a fantastic taxi-driver... I explained to him I had a bus to catch but that my passport was at my hostel and he sped like a madman through the streets of Cordoba, ran red lights (checking there was nothing coming first of course!) and got me to the hostel... He waited while I ran in, panted "passaporta... camera...." to the guy on reception and then flew out the door again, and returned me to the bus station... I didnīt make it, the bus had left a few minutes earlier, but it was worth a try...

Feeling slightly dejected I went to the ticket offices to buy Tom and I another ticket to Mendoza... Tom suggested that I try showing them the old ticket... and what a suggestion... no questions asked, the lovely man at the desk just changed the dates on our ticket and stamped it a few times... I could have kissed him!!

So to say sorry for all the hassle, I bought Tom and I some beers and a pizza and we spent the evening playing cards and drinking... then spent another day walking around Cordoba and managed to get on the next bus :)
