Where I stayed
Es-Sediya's riad, 23 Rue Zayane / 019.665.100 / 024.783.194

In picturesque Essaouira I scored a gorgeous room in a riad owned by a lovely woman for 150 dirhams (about $17) a night. The room is like a mini suite with tiled walls and loads of space to practice yoga on the lovely Moroccon carpet.

The place I originally booked with charged me 175 dirhams for a tiny shared room (decribed on the phone as "huge") and was certainly not as lovely as I expected it to be, based on a recommendation I got from a friend.

So, a couple of minutes after checking in, I appologized to the owner and told him that I did not think the room and I were a good match, got my money back, and left.

This may sound like not a big deal to you, but for me it is, as in the past I would have either stayed at the booked place and resent being there, finding more reasons as to why I thought it was a mistake to come there, or alternatrively, I would have explained in detail to the owner why I thought his riad was overpriced and a rip-off.

I am grateful that today none of the other two options presented themselves as I simply, peacefully and humbly withdraw my interest and applogized to the owner for the inconvenience, got my money back and left without harmed feelings on either side.

It is nice to be grateful (rather than regretful) by the end of a day. I hope I'll have many more day endings like this.

By the way, I found the other riad (which even includes breakfast) in less than a minute. Could not have been easier!

Good things come to those with good thoughts
As you know, what comes back to you is due to what you put out there.

Enjoy reading your travels blogs while I hide in internet anonymity and keep quiet in the background. Good thoughts going out to you.

Happy travels, Yorron!

Hugs,
Greg

Hi Greg
So good to hear from you! Hope you have been well.
Are you still practicing Yoga? Let's meet when I return to LA in December.
Love! Yorron
