Wow, re-entry into the Western World! Everything is so cleeaann!! We definitely stick out with our hobo backpacker clothing and Vietnamese pointy hat. One man even tried to give me food as he walked past. Consensus is that Rachel looks like a beggar or pirate in her cut-off pants/shorts from Koh Samui. We got hassled by an uptight woman at immigration, who just couldn't believe that we hadn't yet bought plane tickets to leave the UK. "Haven't you planned this trip?!" Obviously she hasn't dealt with backpackers much, not to mention planes aren't the only way off this island. We're staying with our amigo Dan B., who is SO much more welcoming than immigration. He even brought us cereal for breakfast!!!! Mmmmm cereal, how we have missed you for 4 and a half months! Plus - Hot Water Shower!! I have to say, though, that we already miss the spontaneity and anything-goes nature of Asia, and the warm weather.
