Who can't love Thailand? We exited the plane as the stewaradesses blasted the Black Eyed Peas, and realized we hadn't heard western music since we entered Cambodia. Physically felt our bodies and minds relax as we thoroughly enjoyed returning to the laid-back circus that is Khao San road. Some Australian movie is being filmed here, and we see them setting up lights and sound equipment and shooting scenes in the numerous small alleys nearby. Also met wonderful fellow travelers Tim and Daniele for some food and story swapping, as they prepare to head north to Chiang Mai. Wallowed in the luxury that is the Bangkok cinema experience - it's even better than Hong Kong! (Not like that's hard; Hong Kong theatres are cramped, low-ceilinged, and smell like mildew.) Cheap ticket prices (140 baht = $3.50), crystal chandeliers, painfully polite ushers at every turn, and we even managed to rack up enough movie points to get a free popcorn! Mmmm. If you fork out 500 baht, you get to enter the Nokia Uber Screen theatre, with it's own private velvet-dripping waiting room, MORE crystal chandeliers, head and neck massages (yes you read that right!), drinks, loveseats, and a movie screen bigger than any I've ever seen. Yesss.
