Jan. 9
Day four in the outback.

From Renner Springs we travel up the Stuart to Daly Waters [16 15.166S 133 22.166E] and the eccentric Daly Pub (everything out here is eccentric) which has strange things tacked to the walls and ceiling left by travelers who have passed this way. Irina stapled our pictures to a pillar there. From there we go to Elsey National Park for a BBQ lunch and a swim in the Matarauka Thermal Springs [GPS 14 55.384S 133 08.137E]. The trees here are covered with Black Faced Fruit Bats. Literally covered. Thick. It is a little spooky. After lunch we travel to Katherine [14 55.384S 133 08.137E] for a rest stop. Then to our last stop before Darwin, Adelaide River Inn where a water buffalo who appeared in a Crocodile Dundee movie has been stuff and set up for display. Strangely (everything seems strange out here) the buffalo was too tall to fit under the ceiling fan so the taxidermist removed 6 inches from his legs, making him a little short and squat looking. We finally arrived in Darwin around 6PM and checked into the Palm Hotel.
