Coral Coast, Viti Levu, Fiji
This morning we left Nadi for the fabled Coral Coast of Viti Levu. Viti Levu is the main island of Fiji, in case we hadn't told you before. Irina picked our destination for today. It is the Beachouse. She found out that this resort was the location for the TV reality series "Love Island". The TV producers went to a lot of expense fixing up the place and Irina recognized the swimming pool in their flyer from watching the show. Apparently the idea was to bring a group of young sexually active but engaged to be married couples together around a pool and see if they could seduce the others' mates. Lots of drama for the weak minded, but our friends would have wondered what the challenge was.
The Beachouse itself has nice but spare duplex bures ornamented with traditional Fijian motifs
Tomorrow maybe we'll finally see the firewalkers of Fiji.

. $72.50 Fijian per night. But if you want towels in your room you have to leave a $10 deposit out of which they deduct $3.00 for washing. We decided to use our own. We should be lucky they gave us sheets. The evening meal was supposed to be a big deal but we'd have been better off skipping it, if we could have, which you pretty much can't because it's in the middle of nowhere with no alternative eateries within walking distance. The fish was breaded and dry and the beef was tough and leathery. So you're trying to swallow the dried out food and ask for maybe a glass of water, but no, no water with the meal. That's extra too. But we did meet some nice people there. And the ambiance is ... well Love Island. A tropical paradise where they nickel and dime ya. Tomorrow maybe we'll finally see the firewalkers of Fiji.
