So my last blog entry...wow. Here we are in the last week of two months in Africa. It's been incredible, crazy, upsetting, frustrating at times, given me goosebumps, opened my eyes a little more. I know that I miss everyone at home right now and I can't wait to get back, but at the same time there is a part of me that is really going to miss this place, this African city. The people I worked with, the youth I connected with and especially my host family. Tonight is my last night at home, we're making a big feast of a supper and then tomorrow morning I get picked up and I'm gone... going to cherish tonight. I'm not just the Canadian who lives in the bedroom with the Beninois, I'm a part of something bigger, I'm family, I've been fully accepted - laughed at, at times... but in the end we've become pretty close, it's amazing.

We completed our huge event at the beach on March 18th and it went extremely well, attracted over 2000 people! All of our activities with the NGO were a success as well. A little story I have; so I was at the artisan market and I wanted to but a floor covering, just a small one, and this guys boutique had only one with him and I asked if it was for sale, and of course it was, great! So I pay 5000 CFA for it, thinking great price! I get home and first Norbert insults me, then my house mom Rose, then everyone else! Seems as though I bought about a 2-3 year old floor covering and should have known that it was his only one!! And the worst part is that I should have only paid 1000-2000 CFA for it... Ah well!

It's been a great experience and I can't wait to share as much as I can with everyone when I return home to Canada.... Man it is going to be great to be back, exercise what? Draft beer what? Normal weather? Haha, it's going to be sweet!

Talk to everyone so soon!

Cheers
Sam.
