Arrival in Prague. We feel the freedom. We feel the difference. The world is not so shiny anymore. Not so much color. Just old things. Old trains. Old signs. Old benches. Old train station. Somehow lovely. The sun is not shining. Rain is about to fall. But it's not falling, yet. We leave. Descending some stairs again. Mixing with the local people, trying not to be conspicuous. We find the metro station. Get the ticket at the counter. The woman understands English. We find out soon that almost everybody here understands English. The hostel is not so far away. Only two stations. We get off the metro. Drive up the long ride on the escalator. Walking into the right direction at once. Walking by PWC. I am being reminded of my employer at once. I don't care. Freedom has only just begun. No need to worry anymore. I see her. She is with me. I feel such joy. Indescribable. Opening the door of the hostel. It's so clean. Looks very modern. Wonderful old building. Beautifully restaurated.

website of our hostel in Prague, Miss Sophie's,

We take a double room. Need some privacy. Need some rest after such a night. We sleep until evening. Then we wake up. Taking a shower. Preparing to go out. We ask the staff for some good restaurant. We get an excellent tip. We go to the pivarsky dom. Eating gulasch and drinking beer. We recover. Recover from the first etap of a crazy travel. After eating we explore the city. We have a map. We walk everywhere. No aim. No goal. Just inhale the spirit of this place. We arrive at the Carls Bridge. Then we continue up the hill. We visit the castle, the church. It's such a wonderful place. Just a little bit cold. We didn't dress enough. We are not sure how to get back. We want to use the tram but we are so short on cash already. We decide to walk back. Walk all the way down again. Seeing some stuff in the window shops. Wanting to buy a cup made out of tin. Wonderful drawings and paintings on it. Never mind. It's just a cup. I think. Really want to have it but really want to have a lot of stuff. Decide not to buy it. Decide not to worry about buying anything anymore.

anyway, the cups are really cool, check out their website

Still rushing around the city. So many people. Christmas market. Wonderful christmast market. Little puppets everywhere. Traditional handycrafts everywhere. Little bells. Little handmade things. Hats. Clothing. It's not like home. At home there's only Glühwein and Würstchen. Here's more culture. It seems. But it always seems like that when you go someplace else. The buildings are so old. So ancient. Every stone has a history. At night the shadows come alive. Golden shadows. It's a golden city. Really. It must have been very rich once. It is still rich. Just people are not so rich. Most people are not. But the city is rich. Full of art. Full of culture. What other city is so full of art and culture. We go back to the hotel. We decide to go to sleep. Just want to rest a little bit and then enjoy night life. We don't wake up again. Just for a short time. Take our clothes off. Than go to sleep again. We're too tired. Too exhausted. We can still go exploring next day.
