We parked the car and entered the Welcome Center, where we watched a 40 minute movie about William Randolph Hearst and the history behind the building of the castle
After viewing the tennis courts and the Roman Bath, aka indoor pool, we hopped back on the bus down to the Welcome Center to head back to Cambria to pick up our shoppers. By this time it was 2:00 and we were starving. Heidi and Mary Jane had found a quaint little restaurant with a foreign flair (Robins) and we had a wonderful relaxing meal. Also, we were very happy to hear that Chere's surgery went well. Dr. Budden's (Jonelle's husband) presence and support was very much appreciated and everyone in Baton Rouge wanted to know how Jonelle got so lucky. We certainly know the answer to that!
Before piling back into Ms. Goldy for the 2.5 hour ride back to Carmel, we strolled through the town, browsing through some of the cute shops. We stopped for a short, cool and windy walk on the Boardwalk getting another view of the Pacific Ocean and were joined by many little California Beach Squirrels scurrying around in the sand. Then, it was time to head back to Carmel, singing along with Rod Stewart and the Jersey Boys as we rolled down the highway. Nancy, our Carmel Chef, whipped up a few grilled cheese sandwiches which hit the spot with a little wine and after dinner drinks on the patio before retiring to bed about midnight. Another fabulous day of making memories in California!
