I hit my 50 day mark in Seville, Spain. I can't believe it's only been 50 days because it seems like I've been traveling for so long. Thus far, I've visited about 25 cities in 10 countries and met countless number of people along the way. After myriad of museums, churches, temples, and old ruins, I can't seem to remember which is which. What I can remember though is the experiences I shared with the people I've met. There are tons of travelers here in Europe from all over the world, but Ozzies and Kiwis are on top of the list. I'm starting to wonder if anybody is at home in Australia...
There are many different types of travelers. Some likes to blitz through the cities like brush fire and some stays in one city for a long time. We all strive to seek the right balance and it's never perfect. But good or bad, some travelers just have the wrong attitude. These are the people that complain why things aren't in English or why the foods aren't to their liking. They'll be the first person to point out the negatives in each city while one bad experience will turn into generalizing the whole country. It's almost as if they expected the locals to embrace their arrivals with parades and guide them to the best spots. I think there's no room for cynicism while traveling because you can always find something positive in each city. But for most travelers, we enjoy the differences and welcome adversities which happened to be the main reason while we travel.
I'm hoping that my next 50 days will be just as good as my first. It is getting colder here in Europe and I am looking forward to it. I'm also looking forward to spending Christmas and NYE here. I've decided to spend x-mas in Paris as planned and NYE in Edinburgh, Scotland. Edinburgh is to host what's known as Hogmanay which is 3-day festival for NYE and it should be amazing from what I'm told. Other than that, I don't have much plans left except to visit my friend, Greg, in Switzerland, and hopefully go snowboarding in the Alps. Fow now, I'll enjoy my freedom and surf through the continent until I get back home. Happy Thanksgiving and enjoy your holidays everybody. :)
