By changing the time frame of my trip, it has caused a great deal of stress trying to revise my itinerary.  To get re-started, I wrote down all of "must-see" places considering feasibilities of each route.  I decided to opt against buying an eurail pass due to 1) there are cheaper means of travel (plane, bus, etc.)  2) I'm not quite sure on my itinerary.  Due to the discounted airlines now in Europe, I can fly from Dublin to Madrid/Italy/France for USD$20!  That's insane!  So, I decided to buy tickets as I go.  If I need to get to one place rather quickly, I'd go by plane, if I fancy a scenic route, I'll take the train.  Bus and bikes are optional as well.
Ok, enough, here's my initial itinerary.  Thus far, I purchased one round trip ticket to London.
London - 10/1/07
Fly to Dublin, Ireland
Fly to Brussels, Belgium
Amsterdam, Netherlands (visiting a friend)
Berlin, Munich, Germany
Prague, Czech Rep
Vienna, Austria
Budapest, Hungary
Milan, Venice, Florence, Rome, Italy
Fly to Madrid, Spain
Valencia, Barcelona
Marseille, France
Zurich, Switzerland (visiting a friend and going snowboarding in the Alps)
Paris, France (X-Mas)
Amsterdam, Netherlands (NYE)
Edingburgh, Scotland
Back to London
Los Angeles - 1/8/07
Again, this is merely a draft and it can change completely from head to toe.  I certainly don't want to fall into the trap that most Americans commit which is to plan way too much.  I just wanted to write down all the cities I'd like to visit, but realistically, I don't know if it's possible.  Who knows, I might end up visiting only 5-6 countries which I'm completely content with.  It's that flexibility and freedom of backpacking that attracted me in the first place!
