The Beginning...

I finally informed my boss about my plans to quit and travel. This was one of the most difficult decisions that I ever had to make but I think I made the right choice. I ran through countless scenarios in my head, but ultimately, it came down to what my heart was telling me to do. I've been wanting to travel for a very long time, and I felt that if I don't leave now, it'll never happen. If I learned anything the last few years, something will always come up in life that will prevent or deter you from your goals. I realized if this is what I really wanted, I have to reach out and grab it myself.
So, back to my boss, after having a long conversation about my plans, he laid out an alternative option for me. He suggested that I shorten my trip and take a leave of absence. From my original plan of 6-9 months, I had to cut it down to 3 months but the obvious upside is I can keep my job. I'll have to re-route my itinerary and it'll certainly reduce the level of freedom, but I'll have the luxury of knowing that I can come back and get right back into the mix. I thought about it for a day or two and decided to take his offer. Actually, I'm thrilled the way it worked out and now I can just focus on how I'm going to spend my next 3 1/2 months. After working the last 5 yrs since graduating, I know how rare and extraordinary this opportunity is for me. I plan on capitalizing every bit of this journey to learn more about myself and venture out to the unknowns to gain invaluable experience. Through this website, I hope you can also come along on my expedition. If you know a place that you've been to or any tips on getting around, please don't hesitate to leave a comment here. I can't wait to get going and I truly feel blessed to be in this situation right now.
