30th April 2008: Around Highlands (North) We woke up and had our wonderfully cooked Scottish breakfast served by Caroline at our own appointed time -
10am. The view from her breakfast room was fantastic - we could see Loch Ness
and her beautiful farm while enjoying our breakfast at the cost breakfast room.
1st leg : Drumnadrochit - Tomich - Cannich Ploda Falls: We started our adventurous day right after breakfast by driving
towards Cannich but just before that, we took a left turn to enter a village called Tomich. We finally had our first experience driving on the very familiar SINGLE TRACK ROAD
of he Highlands.
We drove to a car park where we then set off on foot to find the Ploda Falls.
It started to drizzle but we started to climb the steep hill which led us to the beautiful Falls.
Glen Cannich: We continued on the road
and entered the magnificent Glen Cannich.
The roads leading to the place itself offered many spectacular sceneries.
We saw many deer
and we seemed to be the only tourists around, which is a good thing because most of the roads leading to these beautiful sights are single track roads and we can imagine how choked up they could get during peak tourist season. The unpredictable weather continued to dominate the mood of the atmosphere and these were all captured beautifully by our dear Nero. A picture speaks a thousand words...so, we will just let our photos speak for themselves.
2nd leg : Beauly-Nairn-Drumnadrochit
Beauly: We continued from Cannich northward towards Beauly, a market village about 10 miles West of Inverness. We stopped at a very nice cafe to have some local Scottish sweets and tea before continuing further North East of Inverness towards the seaside town of Nairn. Nairn: Nairn seemed to be a busy little town with many narrow and one-way streets and many people on and about town. We departed from town and proceeded to find the sea,
which was situated at a lovely quiet end of the town. It has become very windy but sea is our favourite spot and we braved ourselves to walk on the Scottish seaside and got blown by the fierce Scottish wind.
It was lovely to be at the sea again, but this sea was so different from the one we last went to in
Ko Phi Phi :-)) !!
