Hectic day in that we had registration at Aviation Museum in Ottawa. Our previously soaked group of riders and crew were joined by over 100 additional bikes this morning. What a great sight it was to see all kinds of people showing up to join us. Some will be just for the day and a few others are coming to Victoria.
The Mayor came out to send us off and before we left Jim gave him a tour of Big Bertha. I think that maybe the bus, and Jim, might have a new gig in the fall municipal elections... ok, maybe not.
It was a great but hot ride to Pembroke where we set up a whistlestop at Mark's Work Wearhouse. We were well received, people very interested in what we are doing and donating and buying souvenirs. Next stop was CFB Petawawa which is a base that has suffered many losses in the recent couple of years. We had a barbecue there. Max Keeping was there to say a few words, about both the military families fund and the Ride for Dad, he himself being a six year survivor of prostate cancer.
Busy day for the crew, very hot riding, but a really good day. Tomorrow we head out to Kingston and start preparing for the Highway of Heroes Day on Thursday.
