Best part about my new roommates is that we don’t even have to leave the comforts of bed in order to hang out. After sleeping in until nearly 11am, we were in no hurry to get up and instead chatted across the room from our bunk beds. I watched from my top bunk in amusement while Joe and Giles asked each other multiple times what the other did with the shampoo, the soap, the toothpaste... My favorite was when Giles asked Joe where his towel went and Joe pulled it out from under the covers where he was laying. Only after proving he had underwear on did Giles take the towel. Eventually I made it to the showers myself. Joe and I marveled at how much fun it was being able to chat while we took our showers. I should have known he and Giles were scheming when he lingered in the bathroom once he was done. My comfortably warm shower was suddenly interrupted by ice cold water being flung over the top of the shower stall, chilling my entire backside. I paid them back by making them wait for me to get ready. We went for lunch at a place known for having good Piri Piri chicken, and we were pleased with Giles for getting us there so quickly (given our track record). We wandered around for the afternoon, dragging the guys into H&M, among other places. However, we all willingly went into a very cool toy store where we spent about twenty minutes marveling at how much cooler kids toys are these days. In the evening, Kiwi had to leave us and the guys played poker while DJ took me to a store where I could replace my broken havaianas. He and I then ventured to the supermarket where he helped me pick out everything we would need for a picnic - which is how we had all decided to spend our last night together. I loaded up on port, wine, two pizzas, cheese, bread, fruit, meet, olives, etc, - enough for three gents and two ladies for only 30 euro. Amazing, Portugal. Luckily Joe randomly appeared just in time to help carry the groceries back. At some point we played trivial pursuit, but I’m not sure how we managed to keep score since the answers came in a free-for-all, complete with elaborate hints. We spent our last night picnicking on the astroturf in one of the common areas, and fleeing from room to room hiding from the one guy who worked at the hostel who was hell bent on spoiling our good time. To be fair, we were loud, but good times are rarely quiet...
