Where I stayed
The Gilbert's House
Saturday was an event filled day to Temecula... apparently San Diego has wine country. What an experience. First of all, KT and I embarked on this journey in a limo bus full of strangers, which suited us just fine. With a couple of glasses of champagne, we made fast friends and were on our way to a swell time. I have decided that Temecula is the fast food of wine country, being very much geared towards no frills wine "tasting". There's no wine-ucation (see what I did there?), but many trips to Napa has afforded me plenty of knowledge, so drinking was just fine by me. We met some cowboys..
With that, I was off to San Francisco in the morning for an afternoon of quality time with SFO before meeting up with Julia and hopping our flight to London. And what an epic flight it was. Luck was on our side when Julia asked if we could be moved up in the plane... we landed in Economy Plus with an entire row for each of us. We proceeded to spread out, settle in, put on a movie and sleep for hours. Only once or twice did we look to the back of the plane at what would have been our fate... the cattle car... and felt guilty... before stretching out and falling into peaceful slumber. Sometime in the wee hours we were roused to frantic calls for a doctor or medical personnel. Crisis avoided, no emergency landing required. We arrived to London in good time, early in fact, and that set the tone for what I hope to be the rest of my trip. From there, we had perfect timing, catching the very next bus with only five minutes of waiting. That arrived at the train station early so we were able to catch the next train with only five minutes of waiting, which also arrived in good time. All in all, we were in Bath before we knew it. Check out my first view of the city! More to come...
