Fortune has shined upon us, despite all expectations to the contrary. Getting from Athens' Larissa Station to Evangelismos and onwards wasn't a whole lot of fun. The damned hostel was practically impossible to find either, with absolutely no sign up anywhere, so the only way we found it was by asking some guy on the street. But, we received a fabulous surprise when we walked in. The head of the hostel asked "do you have reservations?" Our reply: "no sorry . . . we tried, but. . . . " He kind of sighed and looked sheepish, then said "all I have is a double room." Uhhh . . . . buddy . . . . that's exactly what we need!
So much for an uncomfortable night of sleeping on the roof! We happily settled in, dropped off our bags and then hunted down some dinner. What better start than some gyros on pita bread? Once that was finished, we stocked up on food for the ferry courtesy of a neighborhood grocery. Now we're ready to go. With alarms set for 4:45 in the morning, it still won't be a great sleep, but it's far better than we were expecting. Once we jump on that ferry though, it's relaxation time. Can't wait 'til then!
