Last night I woke up at about midnight and recognized that familiar feeling of the stomach flu. Threw up a couple of times and other things were going on that I won't get into. So I did not go to school today and have been studying at home. I am feeling much better and have been drinking tea and this liquid yogurt stuff they have here. So my Mama Tica, Marianita, went to the store a little while ago to get something for my gut and when she came back she gave me a little white pill and assured me that it would be really good for my stomach. Then right when I swallowed it she let me know in no uncertain charade moves that I would be experiencing a total system flush in about an hour. Hmmmm, maybe I hadn't quite explained myself to her because that has been the problem all along.
Then I tell her that I had told Joy that I would meet her in Heredia and we were going to take a taxi back here in time for the fiesta they are planning tonight. Her face twisted halfway between a smirk and a look of concern, she then tells me the story of her friend Nadia who took the pill then walked to the pharmacy and an "oops! I guess that wasn't a fart" sort of thing happened. Well I have no idea how to get a hold of Joy so this has potential disaster written all over it. I should have thought to ask more questions since the pill was administered by the same lady who kept coming after me the other day with a syringe of something "muy bueno" that would cure my headache. I guess taking injections is fairly common here but I want no part of it. So anyway, I put on my granny underwear, a dark pair of pants and said a prayer and am on my way to go meet mi amiga. I hope it all goes well..
OK- I had to reopen my computer because this is hilarious. So I am putting on my shoes and getting ready to leave when I hear Nadia and Marianita standing and chatting through the iron gates, which is what they do quite a bit. Anyway, then Marianita walks into my room holding a glass of water and yet again, another little white pill. She motions for me to hold out my hand for the pill so of course I hesitate and ask what it is and what will it do and in how long. Apparently it is like Immodium, which is what I thought I was taking the first time. So at this point I figure what the heck and downed it. The sounds that are coming from my stomach now are audible from the kitchen. There is an inner battle going on and I know who I am cheering for! Gimme an I.... (immodium, get it?) :) Ha ha! Well, I will let you know how it goes, Or how it doesn't... Hasta luego-
