Hola!! I am finally going to download some pics for you. I have some of the house I am staying in at San Joaquin and will take some of my host family before I leave. They are so great and are throwing a going away party for me on Friday. Joy wanted to go to the beach, which I think would be great, but when I told my host family I was leaving I apparently spoiled the surprise on Friday. They are inviting the whole family and their friends and making a killer carne asada. So I figure I should do that instead of beaching it.
Anyway, I also have a couple of pics of Puerto Viejo that I took on the digital but most of them I took on your camera, Dad, since the digital is not a very high quality one. But it gets the point across... Griffin also told me that he has some hilarious photos of the going away parties. He was going to post it in a link but I figure it might be best to peruse them first.... :)
There are some photos of my campus as well
Speaking of spanish, school has been really frustrating for me this week. I have yet to be able to grasp the fundamentals of the language. The people that have been in class with me all had some of the basics down when they came to class. I did not even know who what when where why how etc... So for once in my life I am struggling a little bit with learning. What a wierd feeling.. Anyway, all it does is make me even more determined so I am sure I will be ok in a week. If I am still not feeling comfortable on Friday I will talk to the student coordinator about starting at the same level when I go to Monteverde Cloud Forest next week to study. I am learning how to conjugate irregular verbs in past, present and future tense and I am not even comfortable asking what time does the last bus leave??? See what I mean? Very frustrating. Anyway, I have always functioned well under pressure so hopefully it will be fine. So enough venting and I will download the photos now.
There is one of the coffee fields here right by my school
I wanted to take a moment and say thank you to all of you who have taken the time to read my journal and who have sent me emails supporting my journey. It means so much and fills my spirit knowing people are thinking of me and I am so lucky to have all of this love around me! You are miles away but I can feel it from here. Denise- I have tried to see the stars but it has been a little cloudy so I will get back to you when I actually see them! :) So again thank you and say a little prayer for me to have some patience and perseverence in my quest to learn Spanish!! Muchos Gracias! I hope you enjoy the photos and if any of you have any to add from the couple of weeks before I left please email them to me and I will post them on the website. Adios!

. I think you will be surprised at those. And my favorite teacher so far- Lucy! That is my grandma's name so no wonder I like her so much! OH- before I forget- Grandpa, thank you for offering to send me the dictionary but I've got it covered finally! I appreciate the thought very much, but I already borrowed one from the daughter of my host family and then Joy is going to leave me hers when she leaves. . Coffee is one of the main exports of Costa Rica and they have this processing plant in the adjacent town of Heredia that I might tour this week. I am going to Heredia tomorrow to visit with Joy and Donna if I feel comfortable with the amount of homework I get.I wanted to take a moment and say thank you to all of you who have taken the time to read my journal and who have sent me emails supporting my journey.
