Sick and on the road
Entry 11 of 111 | show all | print this entry |
I woke up, after a freezing cold night, feeling horrible. I was in the bathroom all morning, until it was time to catch our bus to Palenque, Mexico. I was able to keep everything down until we started driving. Mexico has very curvy roads and every little town has speed bumps in order to slow the traffic down. Those two alone would make someone sick, but I guess eating something bad wasn't going to make it any better. Anyway, Cat and Helen were super great reminding me to drink my water and other good stuff.
When we finally arrived in Palenque the heat and humidity about knocked me over when I got off the bus. I had been so cold all morning, it took all my energy to take off all of my layers. We headed straight to the hostel/campsite, where it felt so good to lay down and just not move. We crashed out pretty quickly after a light dinner and some stories from Cat's book. The next day I was still feeling pretty under the weather so it was nice to sleep in. However, I did need to be a bit productive and went into town to check email and buy my tour to Flores, Guatemala. But I just didn't have the energy to go walk around the ruins of Palenque but the two hour nap was great.
As you can see being sick on the road is not fun at all. I missed out on some cool stuff, but I am thankful that I had some good people around me to take care of me. To pay them back I promised to take care of any travelers I find that are not well. Thanks so much Cat and Helen!!!
