One of our favorite stops of the day was at Thunder Hole
My other favorite spot of the day was at Jordan Pond (good call, Ann W. and Denys!). The views were beautiful and the food was good also. Jordan Pond House serves these wonderful little things called popovers that are to be eaten with butter and strawberry preserves. Yum! A picture of one can be found on this blog, but please ignore the funny look on my face. This really isn't a true representation of how I felt about the popovers! :-) Anyway, there is a trail that goes around the pond, so we plan to go back and hike around it tomorrow.
We also went to Cadillac Mountain today, which is the highest point on the east coast (shoreline). This going to sound odd, but I was a bit disappointed. Had we gone there first, my viewpoint on this would be completely different
After eating lunch at Jordan Pond, we headed back to the inn for an afternoon nap. We have to keep reminding ourselves that we need to be RESTING on our vacation. With so much to see and do, it's hard to settle down a bit.
We headed out to a lobster pound tonight for dinner and saw some more of the coastline in the area. Wes chose a place about thirty minutes away in Bernard. It was a good choice, not so much for the food, but for the drive out that way. My favorite picture so far is the one that Wes took over Southwest Harbor with the partial rainbow in the sky. He just happened to stop to take a picture of the harbor and noticed the rainbow hanging out above it. Beautiful!
We're going back to Acadia tomorrow, so I need to rest up for some additional hiking. Stay tuned!
