We decided to spend a week in Dubrovnik because we were a bit tired from all the travelling we have done(7 days), so we needed a rest.
Dubrovnik has such a big name in tourism that it is quite surprising how small the old town actually is. You can walk round it quite easily in a couple of hours. We spent the rest of the week working up a bit of a tan.
I get the feeling the real travelling is yet to begin. So far we have been rapped up in a bit of a tourist resort cocoon.
Having said that we got of the ferry from Dubrovnik to be greeted by an old guy who could not speak a word of English offering us rooms. He seamed a nice enough chap so we went along with him(plus his rooms were cheap and he offered us a lift).
Despite the fact he couldn't speak English he managed to explain to us the way to the beach; where the local shop was; how to get to the center; how much the room was; where it was; that it hadn't rained for ages and that it was a very peaceful place.
He possessed a very impressive vocabulary in sign language.
Anyway, we are in the old town at the moment, and some guy has just started playing the guitar in the bar next door, so I´m off for a drink.
