Our next destination after Medillin was Banos, Ecuador. After a 33 hour journey which included 6 buses and a border crossing we eventually got there.

Surrounded by green peaks, blessed with thermal steam baths & adorned by a beautiful waterfall, Banos is one of Ecuador's most enticing & popular tourist destinations. It's famous for its melcocha, a taffy which you can see each individual shopowner making in their shop each day. Nearby is a volcano called Tunguratua which erupted violently in August 2006 causing the partial evacuation of Banos.

We only stayed 48 hours in Banos as planned. We arrived at 12 at night & over the next 48 hours our stay included... 5 hardy bucks, 2 hostels, 5 dune buggy's, 1 very near collision with truck, 1 very angry local cop, 2 nights out, 1 disgusting bush, 1 cut foot, 1 hospital visit, bungee jumps for 4 of the boys, 1 100 metre bridge and finally thermal springs.

Upon boarding our 12 hour night bus out of Banos our opinion of the place was a lot different from when we first arrived. Great little town.
