I booked a shuttle to go at 6h20 am arriving at 7h55am at the bottom of the Tongariro Crossing: I wanted to leave even earlier but it was the first bus to leave: when I arrive there, there was already a bus on the place and hicker on the go. I went the first one of the bus and I started the hike with in my mind to go the fastest as possible to arrive the first one to the Emerald lake which is on the highlight of the TC. The only issue was that most of the tourist who where there were here just for the day hike with a little backpack where I was for circuit which was for at least 2 days... I struggle but I finally arrive the first one to the lake and to lunar view of the passage. The view during all the hike is changing from lunar view with volcanic rocks black red yellow, lake emerald, blue and with different ground all the time.
One of them was a long way down to the lake in small volcanic stones which give the feeling to go down from a dune: heaps of fun 01

.
I went to the blue lake before to return as I had still a long way to go to my hut. The good thing for me, was that 99% of the hikers come here for the day hike and as soon as I went to the Northern Circuit hike, I did not see anybody till my hut.
At first, I wanted to sleep in the Oturere hut but as I arrived in advance, I went to the next one: Waihohonu Hut and one more time you cross some very different landscapes coming from the lunar landscape of the crater and emerald lake to a dense forest with a little stream of water in the bottom.
I arrive in the hut and the bottle of wine, the peanuts, the card game, and the ham of 900g were really well welcome by the other temporary inhabitant of the hut. After an evening of card and after observing the southern cross ( the star that you can see on the kiwi flag) I fall in the arms of Morphee.
