Sami are between 20000 to 100000 men in Norway
At my arrival in Kautokeino in bus, an old Sami lady was waiting for me to pick me up to the silversmith gallery. Just with few words, it was interesting to see how was the evolution of this community.
At the silversmith gallery it was like an UFO (OVNI) with 2 aliens has landed in the middle of this small traditional town
With a very good artistic sens, they made an incredible house by them self and feed it with a lot of their sculptures, painting , metal welding, and they brought also a lot of what they found in their trips in mainly in Afghanistan.
I did not stay too long as the second part of my trip was hitch hiking to Karasjok and it was wise to leave early
There are 130Km between the 2 towns is not so big, but you are in Finmark and there is no car and no house for km and km... At least splendid landscape.
After few km walking in the middle of nowhere and some cars (really not many driving like crazy with drivers thinking : what funny is this back packer lost in the middle of nowhere, I finally found an old man (shaman style) with a big white dog on the back who brought me to Karasjok.
We could not really discuss but the man was just funny and kind by himself.
He left me at the gaz station before to walk away slowly with his white wolf like dog.

Salut Marco,
