Out for a drive - East Sussex
We all know that before a long drive it's important to check your car out... check the oil, check the tyre pressure etc. But I think my Dad was taking it to extremes, listening for it's heart beat with a stethoscope!
Today was the perfect day for a drive in the country. The sun was shining, we put the top down, slapped on some sunscreen and set off along the B-roads into East Sussex. Stopping for a cream tea at each National Trust property we passed.
Bodiam Castle
Situated beside the River Rother in East Sussex, Bodiam is exactly as a castle should be! It is the classic childhood picture of a sand castle. Encircled by a moat, originally equipped with a draw-bridge, the castle itself having a round tower on each corner, plus a huge gatehouse at the entrance.
Scotney Castle
More of country house than a real castle, but impressive all the same, Scotney has fantastic gardens in which I got a little bit carried away photographing the flowers.
