After the madness of India we flew (via London) to France where my sister and family were having their summer holidays. We stayed with them for 2 weeks in their beautiful gite in a quiet village by the sea in Brittany. Lots of family including Paul`s Mum & Dad also visited from the UK so it was great to catch up with everyone. Michelle and Austin`s four children - Bethany, Eleonore, Samuel & Joshua were great fun to spend time with - playing football and games in the garden and doing lots of exciting things on the beach such as building sandcastles and searching for crabs in the rockpools. The food was great, the red wine kept flowing (a treat for us!) and we had lots of BBQs on the sunny patio. England even obliged by making it through to the Quarter Finals although the way they have played suggests that might be as far as they get! When we were not in the garden or at the beach we had some nice day trips to the old city of Vannes and also to Piriac sur Mer. On our last day we went to the glitzy seaside of La Baule where we had lunch on the beach to celebrate Eleonore`s birthday before saying our sad farewells. We then took a Ryanair flight back to Stansted Airport where we spent the night (they brought in new seats for us specially!) before catching an early morning flight to Lake Balaton in Hungary. For the next six weeks we plan to explore as much of Eastern Europe as we can, hopefully with some nice Summer sunshine!
