From Brisbane we headed north to Caloundra where we stayed with our friend Kylie who we last saw in Mexico City about 14months ago !!! Caloundra is a lovely little place with a great beach which was only 2 minutes from Kylies lovely apartment (a wonderful break from hostels and dorms!). We had a great few days sampling the 'Aussie' lifestyle where you spend your days at the beach and your nights drinking, watching DVD's and eating takeaway pizza! Kylie also took us to some nearby hill towns and the surrounding forest - it was a nice change to get away from the coast for a short time. After sadly leaving Caloundra we headed north to another beach town called Noosa. As well as the beach the town is right on the edge of a peninsula National park and so is surrounded by stunnin scenery. We stayed for a few nights, had a couple of VERY HOT days on the beach and kayaked down the river where we got close to the giant pelicans. The highlight though was eating fish and chips by the river whilst watching the sun set over the mountains beyond - very beautiful! We then jumped back on the bus to head north to Rainbow beach which is a really quiet village - a great place to get away from it all. We had a lovely walk along the beach (we had it all to ourselves) which has cliffs of different coloured sands, hence the name. We are moving a bit quicker now so only time for one night here and then we took an overnight bus to Airlie Beach where we are going to go sailing to the Whitsunday islands...
