Aloha everyone ... Arnold here, even though it's not really my turn ... Jayne is resting at the hotel. It's Thursday afternoon and it's been raining all day, so we're just enjoying a slow, do nothing day. We are still on Kauai and will be heading to Maui tomorrow. Since we wrote last ... on Monday we attended a wili lei making workshop and made our own leis. Jayne decided to send her's to Malia ... the girl who invited us to her uniki (graduation) to hula teacher. Noekalani, who taught the workshop, wrapped it up for us in traditional Hawaiian style in tea leaves and we Fed-ex'ed to Malia on Ohau. On Tuesday we went to a very secluded beach called Polihale on the west side of Kauia. The beach is about 3 or 4 miles long and at least a few hundred yards deep. There were only about 8 or 10 other people there and they were so far away from us we could only see them with our 16X binoculars. Very private and romantic. After the beach we headed back to our hotel for a luau. Turns out it was pretty toursity and comercial and not very traditional, but it was still fun to see and the food was great. Yesterday we hiked along the Na Pali coast and it was spectacular. Mountains there rise steeply up from the ocean and are covered with thick, lush tropical plants. The views are nothing short of breathtaking, especially for me being afraid of heights. We saw a few tropical birds on our hike and at the end of it saw a monk seal sleeping on the beach ... very cute. After our grueling hike we ended the day with a long dip in the hotel hot tub in the court yard right off the beach. With all that we've been doing I missed my surf lesson the other day and rescheduled it for today. Unfortunately, it was raining so hard that the roads were a little iffy and the TV and radio kept using the words "flash flooding" ... so we decided to just hang around the hotel and the little town of Kapaa. Maybe I'll get a surf lesson in on Maui.

We miss you all and hope everything is well with all of you. God Bless and we'll write again soon.
