01/01/08

Now check out that date, it's the same no matter what side of the world you are on (must look like an idiot when we put dates on any forms as you really have to think about the month being first).

Anyway, now we can say a proper HAPPY NEW YEAR. Just as well I'm typing too as the voice is a bit strained this morning.

We went into Disneyland for a few hours last night and just "hung around". It was really rockin'! As soon as we got there the kids came to life, their were lights everywhere and music pumping. It was absolutely packed. There were some smaller parties in some of the smaller worlds and even saw a part where they were dancing properly (ballroom type) which was nice to watch. Alisha was dancing and Nicole was being photogenic. OK, Nicole would see people having their photos done and go and put her heads next to theirs and smile, we were peeing ourselves at her. They were giving away top hats with a gold band and happy new year written on them and blowers and we also bought some lit up ears. We went around a few of the worlds then back to the main street. We were walking (you could hardly move as it was so packed but they had walk areas that had to keep moving in one direction) past the main stage and they said they had a song for the aussies (well timed). They played "I Come From The Land Down Under" so we beefed that out. There were scattered aussies in the crowd and we found a bunch of 40 of them later that we had a quick chat too. We were in the main crowd when the new year came in, it was brilliant. They had wind warnings in California last night (this time though it was a warm wind as was a warm day yesterday) so they weren't able to do the fireworks which was a bit of a bummer. Still, can't complain as we see the fireworks from Disneyland every night from our window.

Anyway, better get a move on as heading out to Santa Monica today. It's 24 Celcius today so should be a nice day to head off to the beaches.

Oh, was nice to get a couple of phone calls from home last night (or should I say early hours of the morning!). Lorna, you need to make sure there is a +61 in place of the 0 in our mobile phone numbers, if you don't change it the messages won't go through (we have had to change our ones to get messages home, just use and sms number rather than normal cell number).

Bye for now,
USA Woolfes

(not much longer here now, leave for Hawaii on the 9th)
