Well we have arrived safe and sound. We were held up in Syndey because of an electrical storm and then once we got the ok there was some electrical problem in the cockpit and they had to get engineers in to fix that. We ended up spending 2 hours on the plane before we took off, it was very hot and stuffy after a while and everyone was restless. Pilot made up a little bit of time once in the air and besides the delay the rest of the flight was fine, they even got the special meal requests right (just as well as haven't found anything gluten free so far here).
We have ended up with a Ford Expedition, a big one and they gave us free GPS (but it's not as good as TomTom so we will continue with that. Car is brand new, a 2008 model with only 1000 mile on the clock. Rick drove well, well, that's once he worked out where the hand brake was. Only concern is that he tends to move over to the right hand side of the lane a little bit and I was getting pretty close to the traffic in the lane next to me. Seen a few Hummers and a F350 ute that was like a monster truck, had massive wheels. I didn't have the camera out so had to snap that one with my phone.
We checked into the hotel an hour earlier than what was stated but that wasn't a problem and the place is nicer than we expected. The building is older but they are doing it up and looks like they only have the 4th floor to complete with the renovations. Our room was spotless and new wallpaper, carpet, toilet and vanity. Very tasteful so have no complaints. Sitting here on the bed at the moment, don't think it will be too late for us tonight.
Anyway, we got in with the cases and then headed straight out. Walked up to the Civic Centre, oops, Center and there are some lovely old buildings up there. Few market stalls on the way, selling fresh produce. Oh, saw massive seagulls hovering around a fresh fish stall, these things were almost as big as pelicans, they were scary!
We walked around a few streets and then back to Market Street and up to Union Square. Was a young lad there playing his bagpipes, all done up in his kilt (got a snap shot and did squat down but didn't get any shots from under his kilt!). Saw another busker, reggae style and he was using plastic buckets for his drums, was great but police made him move on. Had a walk through Macy's and saw Bloomingdales, Sak's of 5th Ave, and other big name places. They also had a huge Christmas tree up and lots of kids dressed up doing their Christmas shopping with their folks. Funny though, there are quite a few homeless people and then there are these extravagent shops, all intermingled. Few odd people too, one man even offered me a smoke of his cigarette. One homeless man even stopped us and asked where we were going and gave us directions.
Anyway, going to let the girls on here and read through a few of the books in the hotel room, still need to locate an In'N'Out Burger,
from the tired Woolfies!
Oh, weather lovely too, nice blue skies and quite warm this afternoon.

I guess over there you really have to watch out for sea gull droppings...! I wonder if you get more good luck if a sea gull poops on you over there.

Great to hear from you all, Rick you be careful on the roads, we want her back in one piece.
That was a frustrating trip you had, I have printed out your letter for the girls at work.
Have not heard from Eldercare, neither has Scheryl, Carol asked me if I had something to tell her , I said no as they had not contacted me back, she laughed and moved on.
Love to all, Joanna
