Jeanette has referred to our technological challenges. I recharged my new Orange SIM card this morning at the train station newsagent; amazing what you can do with a few words and impersonations of Marcel Marceaux. The reason I needed to recharge was that despite having what I thought was a reasonable €20 at installation of the SIM, the fifteen minutes between the Orange shop and sitting down with our macaroons I had tried to access the Internet, and voila - down to €1 credit. Magnifique - non! We had been warned about ridiculous Internet costs... So, having ditched the UK's O2 card because of similar instantaneous emptying of roaming account, I will need to be careful with Orange. I'm close to going technologically naked, but the option for emergencies is good, at least that is what we accept as the norm now. The Europeans are on notice to sort this out by the next time we come - we have heard that the European parliament is drafting up the framework to make it all happen seamlessly. Will there be a Euro zone the next time we come?
The waiter at our restaurant last night - La Vieille Maison - gave us a book for our journey, a guide of restaurants and hotels, but all based around the Chefs - their smiling photos, their specialties and the price range.
