Our bus was due to leave at 11:30, but as our booking was not direct through the Cruz de Ser company, we had to get there at half 10 to confirm.
Walked down the street a couple of blocks, studiously avoiding the taxis trying to get our business. Arrived at the station after dropping by the post office to post some more postcards (which for a fairly simple concept; 3 stamps, took almost 15 mins to complete.)
After dropping off luggage and confirming tickets we did a spot of shopping before having a drink at the bus company bar.
No. We did not have a pisco sour.
Borded the bus at 11:30, watched a three stooges movie in Spanish till we arrived in Ica at 13:30 (a much more 'modern' looking town than Nazca, but presumably doesn't have as good a press agent) then onto Lima, movies playing back to back till at one point we realised it was 7pm (the tune of our expected arrival) and we had been in a traffic jam for some time.
Arrived at the Lina bus terminal for Cruz de Ser around 7:45, located a taxi and gave them the address of our hostel the 'Happy Up Here Guesthouse' which seemed to cause general confusion. We later found out that Lima taxi drivers know main streets and land marks but rarely know anything more. You generally need to give directions after you leave main roads.
Fortunately for us a taxi driver gave ours, complex but ultimately correct instructions that ended up with us arriving a little after 8pm at a cost of 10 Soles.
Greeted by Ana the owner and Poco the dog we settled in before slipping out just before 9 to get dinner. We cheated and had KFC.
Don't judge us.
