Hello everyone......North Pole is such a fun place to be.  I'm going to go into the Christmas House tomorrow and see what the crowds have been about.  They have tour buses stopping there and people lined up to get in.  That big ol Santa has a list he's working on and we finally got a good close-up shot to see who's on the list.  Check it out, Valerie......looks like your Madison is on the top right and I caught my breath when I saw the "DJ"!
Mass at St. Nicholas Church last night was very special.  The Priest has been transferred to Nome and this was his last Sat. Mass here in North Pole.  He's had lots of good-by potlucks, many wonderful gifts, and he shared some of the favorite memories of his seven year stay here. One of the gifts was the vestment he wore.......embroidered with St. Nicholas praying over the Baby Jesus (until his explaination, I thought it was just Santa...not considering the St. Nicholas part!!).
It started raining in the night and continued most of the day.  I thought I would take a chance and go to the Georgeson Botanical Garden located on the University of Alaska campus, not just to see the wildflowers, but to walk the labyrinth for some special folks on my prayer list. As I approached the parking lot, a rainstorm hit and I do believe it was the worst storm I have ever been in!  It ruined the tea party set up they had for a special event and water was quickly filling the parking lot, so I decided to head for home and do the labyrinth another day.  It was a smart decision, as the storm had moved around the Fairbanks area and all the way out here.  The sky is clear and bright tonight, but lots of clouds off in the distance with 80% chance of rain later.  Thanks for all the positive feedback.  I'm happy you're enjoying our travels.
