We drove from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya, a popular area with locals for long weekends.
Nuwara Eliya has a mountain climate and gorgeous scenery and is also the heart of Sri Lanka's tea country. Here they produce a significant share of the worlds best tea.
We visited a tea plantation and a tea factory. 5kg of tea leaves picked will make 1kg of tea.
We also tried a red banana from a fruit stall on route and it was really nice, slightly darker in colour and a little sweeter than yellow bananas.
It's a great place to visit with stunning scenery of tea fields, lakes and mountains.
