Greetings from Singapore. The weather here is amazing. Warm and sunny with the occasional afternoon rain that cools the rest of the night off perfect for sleeping. We arrived safely Sunday morning after flying all night from Shanghai. We are currently staying with a very generous couch surfer who lives in this amazing condo with a gigantic swimming pool that we have to ourselves. Singapore is definitely a very clean city...but other than the organized system and clean streets, there are also very interesting spots where one can get a good feel for the real Singapore. We visited Little India on our first day which people say is the next best thing if you can not physically go to India. We arrived on the day of their Pongal Festival which is the national holiday for harvest and the streets were filled with music, food and celebration.
Yesterday we took a journey into the history of Singapore at the Singapore National Museum

. It started pouring rain in the afternoon and we were stuck at the Museum which was not so bad since they had this glass ceiling so we sat for an hour just watching the rain pour down on us but never reaching us. Today, we visited this little island called Palou Ubin, known to be the last untouched spot in Singapore. The villagers there have petitioned long and hard to keep the island as it is. We were able to bike around the island and discover wild plants and animals from gigantic jackfruits to chickens that fly.
We will be traveling to Malaysia at the end of the week.
